Going back to the times when Woodley's was in its infancy, one of Harry Woodley's main sources of advertising was his famous "Joke Cards".
Harry Woodley's joke cards became well known around Tamworth, as he used to put them under windscreen wipers of motor vehicles which was, back then, extraordinary advertising.
His message for the Car Hood Makers and Car Seat Repairers, "Let's Put One Over You", became a famous catchphrase for Woodley's in Tamworth.
His joke cards titled "He who laughs-lasts" contained such words of wisdom as "The best way to prevent sea sickness is to miss the boat" or "A man is usually more interested in a girl's limbs than her family tree".
But on each page was a definite Woodley's advertising message, which couldn't be missed.
In fact, years later in the 1990s, Warren Woodley was talking to a very elderly gentleman in Nazareth House, who recited the slogan "Let's Put One Over You," to him-it hadn't been forgotten.
