In 1986 Woodley's Motors found, after talking to its customers, that the 484 Peel Street site was not what was needed, which prompted a decision to make another big move to a block once owned by Warren Woodley's forebears in Marius Street.
So $1 million later in mid- August 1989, Woodley's Motors made the move to its present site, where it stands out very prominently as a major car dealing firm to Tamworth locals and visitors alike.
The concept and design was very much a joint effort between business principal Warren Woodley but mainly due to his wife, Lorraine.
It was reported in 1989 that the building was brilliantly designed with two sections from different eras blended sympathetically by Lorraine to create a complex that has served Woodley's Motors' clients well and will continue to do so for generations to come.
Woodley's Motors have been involved in many awards over the years.
Of course, the NZI Tamworth Quality Business Award has seen Woodley's as a many times nominee and winner as well as the industrial awards. Then there has been trade awards in Volvo, Honda and Hyundai products, which has seen this prestigious company to the forefront on many occasions.
In fact, Woodley's Motors are always winning well deserved awards, which if all were mentioned would take up a whole page.
The management are also appreciative of their many customers who have dealt with the company throughout their career. Some clients have been with Woodley's Motors for over 30 years.
Woodley's Motors is also proud of its team reputation for training apprentices and employing people who have fed their families in Tamworth. This good record of employment takes in hundreds of people over Woodley's 75 years in business in Tamworth.
No expense was spared on Woodley's Motors' state-of-art creation, even to the special hail-proof sails over the cars on display and the enticing glass-encased showroom for its franchised brands, Volvo, Hyundai, Honda, Mazda and Chrysler Jeep.
Used cars are housed under the sails and a paved drive leads to the main showroom entrance.
The service division is located behind the modem showroom with the service management and spare parts centre adjacent to a comfortable customer lounge.
