From 21 December 2001 The New Privacy Act regulations will protect individuals against any abusive usage of their personal information by organisations. To this purpose, it regulates their collection, storage and disclosure. Organisations must now take reasonable steps to make individuals aware that it is collecting personal information about them, the purposes for which it is collecting the information, and who it might pass the information on to. There are some restrictions on the uses an organisation can make of personal information and on when an organisation can disclose personal information or can transfer it overseas. Except for some special circumstances, individuals have a right to get access to personal information an organisation holds about them and to have the information corrected or annotated if the information is incorrect, out-of-date or incomplete. Information we collect includes; Personal information that is necessary, such as pay slips
to support a client's income statement for a finance application. Personal Information
Primary and Secondary purposes Your personal information collected by your salesperson is confidential. We will advise you of the purpose of collection. We collect this information to: a) To check your identity;
a) We share information with vehicle manufacturers for administration of the warranty program, as required by Law. b) We share information with your credit provider if we are arranging finance on your behalf. However we will ask for your written consent beforehand. c) To our related companies. d) Where required by law; e) To organisations which have requested us to provide services to you or who co-operate with us in offering products or services. You may elect at any time not to have any further communication with us other than warranty related issues and customer satisfaction measures. How do we handle requests for access to, and correction of, information? An individual has a right of access to most of the personal information that an organisation holds about them. Customers do not have to provide reasons as to why they wish to access their information. There are circumstances under which we are legally entitled
under the Act not to provide a person with access to information.
They are in situations where full access would: Our obligation is to correct any information that is inaccurate,
incomplete or not up-to-date, as advised by the customer.
How will we identify a customer's file? We will not use a Commonwealth Government identifier to identify your records. We will use our own identifier to organise all information held on an individual. We are unable to de identify your information as we are required by law to keep Police records.
Can individuals deal with us anonymously? Our website can be accessed anonymously. If you are making an enquiry or requesting a quote on a product or service, then you are entitled to withhold your name. You cannot purchase a vehicle anonymously as we are required
to keep Police records.

What are the Guidelines for Sensitive information? The Privacy Act says that certain personal information is defined as "sensitive" information. Sensitive information may only be collected with consent, or where required by law or for legal proceedings. Sensitive information may also include information regarding: · Racial or ethnic origin We generally do not seek to collect sensitive information. We would only do so with your consent, or of required by law or if necessary in connection with a legal or equitable claim.
